"Malappuram" means the land of hills . These smaller hills are the aboard of special type of biodiversity . They are significant in the sense that they are the major contributers of drinking water . But they are under high threat of mining and quarrying .
The oriole nature club members of MES KVM College Valanchery under the guidance of Prof . M . Zeenath deeply concerned about the alarming situation visited various such sites decided to conduct a one day hunger strike to open the eyes of public and government missionary on 21/12/2011,near community hall ,Bus stand Valanchery . There was a high participation of various environmental activists.
